About this tool
Joining audio files seems like a simple concatenation but the quality of the join matters. A hard cut between two tracks recorded in different rooms, on different equipment, or at different levels sounds exactly like what it is — a cut. Crossfade smooths the transition by blending the signals over a user-defined window. A half-second crossfade is enough to eliminate the click; a two-second crossfade feels like an intentional transition.
The per-track waveform view exists because you often want to trim each clip before joining. A podcast interview might have a few seconds of pre-roll silence at the start of each file; a field recording might have handling noise at the end. Trimming before joining prevents those artefacts from appearing in the final output.
