How to extract pdf pages
- Open the PDF and click the pages you want to keep.
- The non-selected pages are dimmed to show what will be excluded.
- Extract to download a new PDF containing only your selection.
About this tool
Extracting is the inverse of deleting: instead of saying which pages to remove, you say which pages to keep. For documents where you want a small slice — the methodology section of a 200-page report, one chapter from an ebook — picking the keepers in a visual grid is more reliable than writing the range.
The new file is entirely self-contained. Fonts, images and annotations belonging to the selected pages are bundled with it, so it opens correctly without needing the original.
Questions
How is this different from the Split tool?
Split breaks a document into multiple output files — it is about dividing. Extract pulls a specific selection into a single new file — it is about creating a subset. If you want just pages 4 through 9 as a standalone document, Extract is the cleaner choice.
Are embedded fonts preserved?
Yes. pdf-lib copies the font resources referenced by the extracted pages into the new file. Text renders identically to the original.
