About this tool
A scanned document with sideways pages is one of those problems that is 100% fixable and slightly annoying to fix. PDF rotation is not a destructive operation: the page content is untouched and the rotation angle is just a number in the file's page descriptor, so changing it takes milliseconds and costs zero quality.
The odd/even scope handles a recurring duplex-scanning artefact: some scanners produce back-of-page images rotated 180° relative to the front. Selecting even pages and rotating 180° corrects the whole document in one pass.
Questions
Does rotating a PDF page affect quality?
No. PDF page rotation is stored as a metadata flag in the page dictionary, not by transforming image pixels. The content is unchanged; only the viewing orientation is updated.
Can I rotate different pages by different amounts?
Use the page-grid view to click each page individually and apply different rotations. The "Selected pages" scope applies the chosen angle to only those pages you have highlighted.
Why did some pages come out sideways from the scanner?
Most flatbed scanners have a fixed feed direction, so anything placed sideways on the glass ends up rotated in the output. Duplex scans of documents mixed with landscape pages are another common culprit. The "Even pages" scope handles the classic back-of-duplex case in one step.
